RIMM – Head & Shoulders?

Hi Everyone,

Even though my main focus is on Forex and that is mainly what I trade, a friend of mine asked me to look at some stock charts for him, one of them was RIMM and I’d like to share with you my analysis. First thing  notice is that the stock gapped up in April above a previous area of resistance. The other thing is that the stock may be forming a Head & Shoulder pattern with the right hand should coming to the R1 level (monthly pivot) which is also a 61.8% retracement of the move down.

You cant win them all!!!!

Had a few emails and calls from students today sharing with me their wins and losses for the day and the week.  Remember guys, you cant win them all and the trading days this week have not been the greatest either.

I called two bad trades this morning: GBPUSD & EURCHF both of which were loosing trades for me.  The other 4 shown in the chart above are still going in my direction, just really, really slowly..

Well if you were already in it – it would be fantastic, however, if you not, there is room to be cautious…

Although the overall trend is up and we always want to trade in the direction of the trend, we have a strong area of resistance where price is currently at.  We would need price to break this resistance before entering a long trade as it may bounce off the resistance back to the trend line before making another attempt.  Remember the candle must CLOSE above the resistance in order for us to acknowledge that it has been broken.

Morning traders,

Looks like we may have a better trading this morning?  For those of you who know this strategy and entered based on our entry levels, you will already be in the money this morning.

The above is based on a 30 minute chart rather than the 15 minute that we usually do.  Today I have other business commitments and therefore need to be checking my trades on a longer time frame than normal.  This is all we need to do when we have other commitments on certain days; extend the time frame to the period that will allow you to continue with your daily routine, but still be able to make money.   Remember that the larger the time frame and bigger your stops will be.

This is using the Serene all 4 strategy set up again, just to show those who have attend the courses what they could have missed this morning and those who have not yet attended the course – what they are missing out on.

Using four of the strategies taught, on a 15 minute chart, we had a buy signals generated between 8am – 8.30am on all of them.  Since then price has moved up 35 – 40 pips… 

It is all about doing your analysis and having the right strategies.

Intraday trend indicator update

I was able to publish at 9am this morning an intraday trend indicator analysis which will be published on our new site as from Monday next week.  We will try and update this 3 times a day.  Here is the update for 12 noon.

No Directional Trend…

Missed the Smash & Grab trade on Cable today due computer issues once again.  I should not be a trader as every computer that I touch breaks!!  Having a look at one of our major pairs this morning, USDCHF, although it is not giving us anything to trade at present, it is certainly giving us something to watch.

In the chart above we can see that price is squeezing together using the 200 day MA as an area of resistance as well as the downward trend line.  The upward trend line is supporting price on its way up.  We therefore have this pressure building up between the upper and lower trend lines and we are looking for a break and close either above or below to tell us which way the trend has chosen.  This break must then also be backed up by another technical indicator and/or Serene Education strategy.

A confirmation on four time frames makes this pair very appealing for a short trade position.  Look at your targets, support, resistance to see how long this move could continue for and possibly, if you have attended the Live with a Trader Forex course, another strategy for that extra support but all in all – it looks like a nice trade.

What is happening in the markets this morning?

Taking a quick look at the markets this morning after a fantastic movement yesterday on these three pairs especially, I am expecting some form of retracement.

What I am looking for is a short position on Cable once price has broken through the 23.6% retracement as it seems to be taking some strain at the moment.  Notice how price broke through the 50 day moving average during the night, came back to test it and bounce doff it again… but will it hold?  Time will tell.  Dont be too quick to jump into trades that are not fully aligned and set up for us to take.

Fake Break??

Sure that traders that are night owls are happy with the move that Cable made overnight!!  I unfortunately was asleep and slept through the 120 pip move!!

When everyone woke up this morning after seeing a nice pull back and break out, many people jumped at the opportunity to enter trades on the break of the pull back as shown above.  There is just one thing that made it look like  a fake breakout… MACD is still showing us that the trends are moving in opposite directions to the trends.  We want to see MACD take a positive direction on Cable before jumping in on the trade.
